Role of NSUI leader under lens in fake demi-official note case

SHIMLA: The role of an NSUI leader is under scanner in the case pertaining to the fake transfer order on the stolen demi-official (DO) note of the chief minister. While the cell phone of the suspect has been put under surveillance, the accused have gone underground to evade arrests.

In April this year, 37 DO notepads of chief minister Virbhadra Singh were stolen from his office and of it only one has been recovered so far. Interestingly, the recovered DO notepad was used to order the transfer of a lecturer posted at Rohru.

Matter came to light when a complaint was lodged at Chhota Shimla police station recently alleging that transfer of a school lecturer was ordered from Rohru to Una on the stolen DO note of the chief minister.

Cops said that involvement of 4-5 people, including an NSUI leader, has been detected so far.

Fearing that more fake transfers could have been ordered on the stolen DO notes, cops have requested other departments to provide information on receiving DO notes of serial number 64 to 100, but till date no information has been received on the same.

The fake transfer case came to light when the education department received a DO note from the chief minister's office ordering transfer of a lecturer from Rohru to Una. But instead of bearing the stamp of the chief minister, the letter had signature of his special secretary. The entire case unfolded when the education department officials sent the note to the CM's office for verification.
