CHENNAI: Union health minister and Congress general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad would call on DMK chief M Karunanidhi here on Thursday evening, sources said.
The visit comes at a time when the DMK has decided to snap ties with the Congress and contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections on its own.
Congress sources said the minister sought an appointment with Karunanidhi. Azad is in Chennai en route to Vellore where he will attend a function the Christian Medical College on Friday.
DMK sources said the minister had sought an appointment with Karunanidhi, adding that it would be just a courtesy call.
