Modi insulted Ganga, says Mulayam

LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturaday attacked BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi terming him as the biggest liar in the country. Addressing a rally in Azamgarh, his second constituency, Mulayam said Modi "insulted mother Ganga by calling it just `Ganga'."

Mulayam said that it was during the regime of Narendra Modi that over 7000 farmers in Gujarat committed suicide. "Whatever Modi sahab may do he will never become the prime minister of the country,"' Mulayam said, claiming that the SP alone will be able to stop the BJP PM pick from ascending Delhi's throne. He reiterated that it was only the third front that would be able to form the government at the centre.

The SP boss further claimed that as per his information he was winning from Mainpuri by a huge margin. "But I would like to win in Azamgarh by even a bigger margin," he said. The SP chief said that it was on the demand of Azamgarh that he decided to contest from the constituency. He said that he was contesting from the constituency to reduce the differences between the east and west UP.

Mulayam said it was only the SP government that did work in east UP. "Otherwise the region never remained on the priority of either the Congress or the BSP," he said.

Playing the minority card in the Muslim dominated constituency, Mulayam attacked the Congress of not pressurizing the UPA government to implement the Sacchar committee recommendations according to which the situation of Muslims in the country was even worse than dalits. Mulayam said that the Congress merely used the Muslims as a vote bank.
