Kaif woos voters with exploits on cricket field

ALLAHABAD: Congress candidate from Phulpur constituency, Mohd Kaif is relying on his career defining innings and acts on cricket pitch to woo voters. The vehicle, being used by the former Team India player, has an LCD screen that screens his famous innings wherein his crucial contribution ensured team's victory.

From the famous innings in Nat-West Trophy (2002) to the extra-ordinary catch at Karachi, the glimpses shown on the LCD screen has caught the attention of youngsters who are passionate about ongoing IPL matches. This is in stark contrast of his rivals who are using LCDs to telecast the speeches of their senior party leaders.

Around a dozen vehicles have been deployed by Mohd Kaif in different localities of the constituency. All these vehicles are fitted with a LCD screen and powerful sound system to screen best innings played by cricketer Kaif in his international and domestic career.

Titled 'Mai Mohd Kaif', the 15-minute video, starts with a narration: "This is the second innings of Kaif's life." Then it goes on show his best innings, including the famous knock in Nat-West trophy where he scored 85 runs in 75 balls along with Yuvraj Singh to win the match and the trophy. The video also shows another episode wherein Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly took out his shirt in the ecstasy of winning the final match and not to forget, the amazing catch which Kaif took against arch rival Pakistan in 2004.

Interestingly, Kaif met Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for the first time in this match. The short but memorable meeting between the two eventually led to Congress ticket from Phulpur. The LCD also shows Kaif's memorable innings in IPL matches.

"Amidst ongoing IPL matches, the canvassing vehicle has surprised us. We got an opportunity to re-watch the famous innings of 2002 when Kaif and Yuvraj played that famous knock against England when I was just eight years old", said Priyanshu, a cricket fan of Preetam Nagar.
