Amarinder questions Modi for not visiting Golden Temple

AMRITSAR: On the last day of campaigning, Congress candidate Amarinder Singh blamed BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for deliberately avoiding a visit to Golden Temple during his tour to Amritsar on April 25.

"Modi had publicly rejected the humble offer of wearing a skull cap thus hurting millions of people, and now he kept away from paying obeisance at the Golden Temple," said Amarinder while talking to media persons on Monday.

"There is every possibility that he might have refused to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple as usually, his hosts would have suggested him to start his Punjab campaign after seeking blessings of the almighty as is the normal practice in Amritsar," said Amarinder.

He said that It was for the first time that some leader, the one who aspires to be PM of a secular India, avoided going to the Golden Temple, a shrine that has its doors open on all four sides for all people irrespective of their race, religion or region.
