Andhra visit was not to discuss politics: Parrikar

PANAJI: Chief minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday denied he had gone to Andhra Pradesh to forge political alliances but admitted he had paid courtesy visits to Andhra leaders Kiran Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu.

Responding to media queries on the sidelines of another press conference, Parrikar claimed he had met half a dozen industrialists in Andhra Pradesh and that they are interested in coming to Goa.

Parrikar, who was in Andhra Pradesh recently, fuelled speculation that he was there for political talks with Andhra Pradesh politicians. But Parrikar flatly denied the reports saying he has not been authorized by the BJP to discuss politics with other leaders. He said he knows Reddy well and met him over tea as Reddy has long been inviting him. He also said he met Naidu but not for any political discussion.
