Different yardstick for those praising PM: Congress

NEW DELHI: Congress on Wednesday said the Modi government was creating a new norm where any person praising the prime minister is judged with a different yardstick, referring to the newfound love in BJP for Kiran Bedi and Nationalist Congress Party.

AICC spokesman Shakeel Ahmed reacted to reports of Delhi Police closing a case against former cop Bedi by saying it was another instance of "all sins are pardonable" for BJP sympathizers. He said Bedi had cases of bungling against her and absolving her now betrayed political considerations. The former supercop had joined Anna Hazare's movement but has since drifted towards the saffron outfit.

He said NCP of Sharad Pawar too had turned from "brashtacharvadi congress party" to a politically acceptable partner for BJP in Maharashtra. The NCP is supporting the new state government after PM Narendra Modi had derided Pawar's outfit as a symbol of corruption.

"PM talks of skill development. He should himself develop the skill of telling the truth," Ahmed said.
