Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seizes 51 kg heroin

NEW DELHI: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on Thursday seized 51 kg of heroin worth more than Rs 255 crore and ammunition from a person coming from Pakistan.

Acting on an intelligence input, the officials arrested a person with 51 kg of heroin at Harike Pattan under Tarn Taran district. The market value of the seized heroin is about Rs 255 crore, official sources said.


The accused, a native of Chak Suwah Wala in Fazilka district, was carrying the contraband in two white gunny bags. The contraband has been smuggled from Pakistan as the gunny bags had Urdu stamps and other markings, they claimed.


The officials also recovered 42 live cartridges and two magazines from him, the sources said.
