Portal removes offensive property ad

MUMBAI: Shehzad Poonawalla, a 26-year-old city lawyer, has complained to the National Commission for Minorities against a communal post by a broker on a property website.

The broker and the portal had placed an advertisement on November 2 about a residential property for sale. The advertisement mentioned details of an "excellent brand new 2BHK fully furnished flat with cross ventilation, natural light, cosmopolitan society with car parking", but added, "no Muslims".

The home in question is located at Dadar's Hindu Colony. The portal, in a media statement on Thursday, said that it had removed the "offensive and discriminatory" posting.
