China says interning Muslims brings them into 'modern' world

Xinjiang Governor Shohrat Zakir said authorities were providing Uighur Muslims with lessons on Mandarin, history and laws. Such training would steer them away from extremism and onto the path toward a "modern life". About 1 million Uighurs have been arbitrarily detained in internment camps in Xinjiang.
