Indian carriers cap fares to and from Nepal

NEW DELHI: In a bid to pull out as many stranded Indians from Nepal as possible, Indian airlines have capped fares on the India-Kathmandu routes.

Air India has reduced The one-way fare between Delhi / Kolkata / Varanasi and Kathmandu from Rs 14,000 to Rs 4,700 inclusive of all taxes.

"This is the lowest fare on the India-Nepal routes," said an AI official.

A SpiceJet official said the airline has capped fares on Kathmandu-Delhi route at Rs 8,000.

"We are carrying relief material and doctors free of charge to Kathmandu. NGOs can contact us at earthquakerelief@spicejet.com for sending men and material there," said the official.

Other airlines that fly to Nepal, IndiGo and Jet, have also decided to charge low fares on this route.
