The inclement weather has also hampered the roof painting work in Shimla Municipal Corporation area. The authorities have therefore extended the deadline for painting the roofs "red or green" by one month.

Those house owners who failed to paint the roofs by the extended deadline would be penalised under the Municipal by-laws which mandated that all house owners or occupants would paint their roofs once in three years.
