Why do you need custodial interrogation of Teesta Setalvad? SC asks Gujarat govt

NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Thursday extended the stay on arrest of Teesta Setalvad and her husband.

Earlier during the hearing, SC asked Gujarat government why Teesta Setalvad and her husband were needed in custody for questioning?

The top court noted that it is a matter of curtailing somebody's liberty.

The Supreme Court is hearing the anticipatory bail plea of Teesta Setalvad and her husband.

Gujarat police want to question them in a case of alleged misappropriation of funds worth Rs 1.5 crore meant for rehabilitation of post-Godhra riot victims.
