SC refuses Maran's petition to move to Delhi HC for Aircel-Maxis case

NEW DELHI: Supreme Court refused to entertain petition by former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran, who wanted the Aircel-Maxis case against him to be tried by a normal court and not by 2G scam special court.

Maran pleaded that the SC had barred only 2G scam accused from going to the Delhi high court.

Maran said the case of allegea non-grant of license to Aircel could not be categorised as a part of 2G scam and deprive him of his right to approach HC for quashing of chargesheet.

SC refused to entertain the plea and said if the accused in Aircel-Maxis case choose, they could challenge the jurisdiction of the trial court before the special court itself.

If the special court trying 2G cases refused to give them relief, they could always come in appeal to tge SC, said a bench of justices V Gopala Gowda and R Bhanumathi.
