Missing woman: Uttarakhand team visits Alwar to verify credentials

ALWAR: A police team from Uttarakhand visited Alwar's Bhikampura village and verified the credentials of the woman who had gone missing in 2013 floods but traced almost one-and-half-years later by her husband.

A team led by SI Jagat Singh visited the woman Leela Kanwar's house and quizzed the family members to verify Leela's identify.

Leela had gone missing in Uttarkhand in 2013 when floods wracked havoc there. The family members had lost hope of her survival, but her husband Bijendra kept looking for her as her body had not been recovered.

The family members said that due to shock, she had lost her memory and could not find her way home. The Uttarakhand police team had come to Bhikampura to verify that the woman was Leela Kanwar. After recording statements of the family members, the team returned to Uttarakhand.
