Bulgaria proposes Jaipur and Plovdiv as 'Twin Cities'

JAIPUR: In a bid to strengthen tiew between Bulgaria and India, the former has expressed its interest to develop Jaipur and its second largest city Plovdiv as twin cities. Bulgarian ambassador to India, Petko Doykov on Tuesday in Jaipur said, "Both Jaipur and Plovdiv have rich cultural legacy. There is a strong possibility to develop both cities as twin cities. It will further strengthen the relationship between the two historical nations."

Doykov said that he will ask the mayor of Plovdiv to prepare a proposal in this regard. "Both the cities can have a cultural centre to promote the exchange of artists, academicians, town planners and students," said Doykov who is inspired by the heritage structures in Jaipur. The ambassador studied the growth of Jaipur in last few decades and was surprised to know the footfall of tourist in the city from across the globe.
