While eyewitnesses claimed that empty coaches of the train crashed into the temple, police said the structure fell under the impact of a tree.
"Accident occurred at around 7am when coaches of the train were being attached at the yard, beyond platform No 4," said ASI, government railway police (Gwalior), KL Rai.
Rai said a pair of wheels slipped off the track during shunting. The injured were referred to the district hospital.
Daily wage employees staged a protest at the railway station, demanding immediate suspension of motorman and guard, accusing them of negligence. They also demanded free medical treatment and compensation for the injured. Railway PRO (Jhansi division) Ravi Prakash, however, claimed no one was injured. "Our staff went to the spot, no one was injured," he told TOI over phone.
