JHANSI: A special court in Jalaun on Saturday convicted Samajwadi Party MLA Kaptan Singh Rajput and his brother in a 12-year-old murder case. Seven other accused were let off by the court due to lack of evidence.
Both Rajput and his brother Mangal Singh were taken into custody immediately after the judgment. The quantum of sentence will be pronounced on Monday.
The two brothers along with seven of their associates were booked in 2002 for the murder of one Krishan Dubey in Jalaun district.
In 2014, Rajput won the byelection from Charkhari seat after it was vacated by BJP's Uma Bharti, who won the Lok Sabha election from Jhansi.
