Hurriyat leaders are Pak agents in India: Kargil martyr kin

DHARAMSHALA: Relatives of Kargil martyrs have taken strong exception to the statement by Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani hailing the militants who killed Col Rai on January 27 as 'brave hearts'. Reacting to the comments of Geelani, family members of Kargil martyrs said people like him were misusing the freedom of speech in the country.

"Hurriyat leaders are the agents of Pakistan living in India. They are enjoying hospitality of this country and their comments are highly anti-national. I am surprised over the inaction of the Indian government on this issue" said N K Kalia (72), a retired scientist from the Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT). He is the father of Kargil martyr Captain Saurabh Kalia.

"In the last 40 years there have been a lot of troubles in Jammu & Kashmir like the recent floods and the Army has always rescued the people," Kalia said, adding that such comments were highly shameful and its speaker should have been behind the bars by now. "The Indian government should take stringent action against them," said Kalia.

Father of Kargil war hero Vikram Batra echoed similar sentiments. GL Batra said such comments were highly condemnable as thousands of people were sacrificing their lives for the integrity of the nation in Jammu & Kashmir and such comments by separatist leaders encourages militants.

"The Indian government should take action against those who give such statements as it encourages terrorist activities in the already disturbed region," Batra added.
