Five tourists killed as car falls into gorge in Shimla

SHIMLA: Five tourists were killed in a road accident near Shimla on Monday after the car they were travelling in rolled into 1500 meter deep gorge at Taradevi near Shimla. Those killed were from Chandigarh, Malaut in Punjab, Rajsthan and Ranchi.

According to police officials, on Monday information was received at police station (West) Shimla about accident and when the police team reached at the spot they found a Swift car (PB30N-3075) skidded off the road into 1.5 km deep gorge at Sonu Bangla near Taradevi.

Those killed in the accident have been identified as Sandeep Singh resident of 207 NAC 8667 Sector 33 B Chandigarh, Nitin Kumar resident of 848 street number 1, Dharmesh Colony Malaut district Muktsar Sahib Punjab, Prem Saharan resident of 6K22 Jawahar Colony, GangaNagar, Rajasthan, Mohammad Wasim Akram resident of Gadri Resaldar, Darndu Ranchi, Jharkhand and Sunil Jindal resident of Krishna Colony near Water works Malaut district Muktsar Sahib Punjab.

Police has registered a case FIR and has started investigation to look into the reasons behind the accident, said a police official.
