Interacting with mediapersons at the residence of youth Akali leader Mandeep Singh Pappi Tarmala, CM said the unprecedented step would ensure more participation of the states in policy making. He bemoaned that the CMs of various states, who were better connected at the grassroots, were hitherto ignored while framing the policies at the national level.
Badal said that with the formation of NITI Aayog, the CMs would have more involvement in the planning process, which would give boost to the overall development of country and prosperity of its people. The Akali patriarch further said that during the tenure of successive Congress governments at the Centre, the states hardly had any say in policy formulation, which resulted in lopsided development of the country.
Citing an example, Badal said that as the top brass of the erstwhile Planning Commission was not even aware of the problem of waterlogging, how could they allocate required funds for mitigating woes of people residing in those areas.
