Vadra did not break any rules: Digvijay

CHANDIGARH: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, on Friday, defended Robert Vadra, son-in-law of party president Sonia Gandhi, saying it was only during elections that the opposition raked up the issue of his company's land deal with DLF in Haryana.

"He has not violated any national or international law. His only fault is that he got married in the Nehru-Gandhi family. Such issues come up only during elections and die down after the polls," he said.

Digvijay, who was in Chandigarh to offer backup support to Congress, accused BJP and Narendra Modi of doublespeak while asking the Prime Minister to share a common platform to debate the issue of development in the state with Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

"Hooda is one CM who is not involved in any criminal case. We hope Haryana electorate is fair and will vote Congress to power for the third time as it has done in the past two terms. Modi ji is very good at manipulating figures. You can imagine his skills of doublespeak as when abroad, he praises the achievements India over the past 60 years while he criticizes the Congress when referring to development," he said.
