Dump 'scam govt', go for 'skill Haryana': Modi

ROHTAK: Calling Congress government in Haryana "sarkar of ghautalas", Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday promised a "skill Haryana" to the people if they elect BJP in the October 15 assembly polls.

Addressing a poll rally at Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's hometown Rohtak, Modi said, "This is a government of ghautalas (scams). They have made it scam Haryana but we have to turn it into a skill Haryana. We want to focus on the skill development of youths so that they can earn their livelihood."

The present government in the state has "committed one after another ghautalas but now they are telling lies", he added.

"I know that you are sad that Haryana is known as a state of scams. There are scams and then scams within scams. Our opponents are all involved in scams. Do you want a scam Haryana? I want to create a skill Haryana. You have to decide if you want a scam Haryana or a skill Haryana," he said.

On Valmiki Jayanti, Modi also tried to woo the dalits, who consist 20% of the state population, by raising the issue of crime against dalits in Haryana.

"I promise you to provide such a government which works for dalits. I would like to assure dalit brothers that the governments are for poor and exploited not for the rich," he said.

Modi also talked about a two-year-old parliamentary committee, which had visited the state after a spurt in rapes in 2012.

"The committee had come to the state when rape of 19 dalit girls had shaken the country," said Modi. "The committee's report said dalit girls' exploitation has been continuing in the state one after another. This government even did not perform the duty of registering an FIR into the cases. Not only this, either the paper work on those cases are still continuing or the cases are still being probed. But no dalit 'ma-bahan' got justice," the PM said.

"Despite the stunning report, this government kept mum. We cannot imagine such an insensitive government," Modi said.

Targeting chief minister Bhupinder Hooda, Modi said, "In the area of the CM, the poor girls are not safe and are living under fear. What should be a bigger scar on the government than this. The chief minister and his family had huge influence in this area for the past 10 years but is there an effective law and order here? Are sisters and mothers safe here? Did the guilty go to jails?" asked Modi.

Giving a call to free Haryana from musclemen, Modi said, "The state is dominated by musclemen. There is not a single village which is not under terror of musclemen who are protected by the politicians. The life of innocents and law abiding citizens has become miserable. Because of musclemen, the daughters and sisters in villages fear to come out of their houses. You can free the state from these musclemen on October 15 by voting for BJP."

In the Jat-dominated stronghold of Hooda, Modi also asked voters to rise above caste considerations and elect BJP.

Taking on dynasty politics, Modi said five families have run the state for the past 25 years. "They kept playing the game of politics in the name of caste or farmers. But after gaining power, the families of mukhiya (CM) distributed the districts and areas to open their shops. Don't allow Haryana to be looted anymore," he said.

'four-coloured revolution'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called for a "four-coloured" revolution in Haryana. "Saffron in Tricolour represents electricity generation, which is needed in Haryana. White is for milk revolution. Green stands for revolution in agriculture whereas blue of Ashok Chakra is to strengthen ports and fishermen," Modi said. However, Modi added, "Some secular friends may fall ill after hearing about the saffron revolution in the country".
