Congress asks Modi to apologize for comments on Vadra's land deal

NEW DELHI: Congress on Thursday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologize for making false allegations about Robert Vadra's land deal, saying the Election Commission's clean chit to the state government proved that the PM had lied.

Congress spokesman Anand Sharma said Modi was belittling the position of PM by repeatedly making "false allegations". "BJP has egg on its face after the EC's order. Narendra Modi, being the PM of the country, gave a very irresponsible statement and made allegations against Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda," Sharma told reporters, adding, "Modi should apologize to the Haryana chief minister."

Alleging that Modi was continuing with his "shoot and scoot policy" as he did as an opposition leader, Sharma said, "It does not behove a PM to be caught repeatedly making false statements... It is a matter of concern if the PM of India has this mentality."
