The current combined exercise marked the growing military cooperation between the two countries. The 'Surya Kiran' series of exercises commenced at platoon (30 men each) Level and has been gradually upgraded to battalion level exercise. It was the second time that a battalion level training exercise between both nations was conducted.
Major General Hemanta Raj Kunwar of Nepal and Major General Ashwani Kumar of India also took part in final day's events. Addressing the Indian and Nepalese contingent, Major General Ashwani Kumar, said that the understanding and goodwill generated during this training will go a long way in further strengthening the military bonds between two Armies and also in understanding each other organizational concepts and methodology of conducting counter terrorism operations as well as sharing common knowledge on the issues of disaster management.
During the exercise, both armies evolved combined drills for planning and conduct of tactical operations in counter terrorism environment and developed a disaster response mechanism.
