The highlights of the Survey were quoted profusely by party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi to drive home the point that the state of the economy was robust when the UPA demitted office.
Singhvi said the Survey showed a drastic decline in the number of poor in the ten-year UPA rule. It has come down from 40.7 crore to 26.9 crore.
The survey showed that the Current Account Deficit has been moderated to 1.7% from 4.7% in the earlier year.
The Congress leader said India had record foodgrains production of 264.4 million tonnes in 2013-14 as also record production of oilseeds, pulses and milk.
The UPA rule has ensured India has the second fastest growing services sector, just below China.
Replying to questions, he said Congress will protest against any dilution of the MGNREGA and Food Security Act, which are the world's biggest welfare programmes, started in UPA rule.
"Any such move would be against the interests of the people and the nation and therefore will be stoutly resisted," he said.
