Operation Hamla: Two-day anti-terrorism exercise begins on Tamil Nadu coast

MADURAI: The annual anti-terrorism exercise in coastal districts of Tamil Nadu began on Wednesday morning.

Operation Hamla will see decoys - police commandos - acting as terrorists trying to reach designated targets by escaping the vigil of security agencies.


Police, Coastal Security Group, IB, Q-branch, SB-CID wings are involved in the operation. Patrolling in the sea and on the shore has been divided among them.


Fishing boats are being searched and police have asked fishermen to alert them in case they notice any suspicious movement in the sea.


The operation will end on Thursday evening.


Meanwhile, the Tuticorion police secured nine decoys or known red forces in the mock drill.
