DHARAMSHALA: The politically sensitive district of Kangra has produced ripples in the political circles with the brother of former Congress minister and whistleblower in the CD case against Virbhadra Singh, Major Vijay Singh Mankotia, leaving the party for BJP.
Ajay Singh Mankotia joined BJP on Saturday in presence of former industries minister Kishan Kapoor. He, however, brushed aside speculation of his brother's political career being affected by the move. "I have my individual identity and thoughts. My joining BJP will not affect my brother as it is my own decision," he said.
It is to be recalled that both chief minister Virbhadra Singh and Shanta Kumar had visited Vijay Singh Mankotia's house seeking his support in the general elections. "My brother has joined Bharatiya Janata Party. It his no connection to my political career," said Vijay Singh Mankotia. Ajay Mankotia will also bring first-time Tibetan voters for BJP as he has been associated with Tibetan groups here for a long time.
