Sources said that the meeting lasted for less than half an hour and Thackeray instructed the city leaders to work together to ensure the party candidate Pradeep Pawar's wins from Nashik. All the party corporators and senior leaders from the city were present in the Mumbai meet. They were instructed to keep a vigil in their wards and campaign for Pawar.
The MNS came to power in the Nashik Municipal Corporation in the 2012 elections, emerging as the single largest party. The party currently has 39 corporators.
"Thackeray asked us to keep a strict vigil in our respective prabhags for any kind of monetary transactions by the opposition to the voters. He asked us to do the kind of good work that we did for the civic elections," said Ramesh Dhongade, corporator and former Nashik Municipal Corporation standing committee chairman.
The MNS corporators said that they were all instructed to work for one common goal. "We were given general instructions by Thackeray about keeping a watch in the polling booths and identifying any unusual incidents on the day of the election. We are now in the final stage of the poll campaign and have to be very alert," said the corporators.
Pawar campaigned in Satpur in the first half of Saturday. On Tuesday, Sharmila Thackeray will be campaigning for the MNS candidate in a road show at Panchavati.
