SHIMLA: Opposition BJP is taking a legal opinion on an affidavit submitted by Congress candidate from Mandi and CM Virbhadra Singh's wife with EC, in which she has shown an increase in net assets but not mentioned the source.
Addressing media persons in Shimla on Thursday, BJP's state spokesperson Ganesh Dutt alleged that Pratibha has given the joint family income as Rs 34.82 crore in 2012-13 while the same was Rs 33.96 crore in 2011-12, when she and her husband have also repaid the loan of Rs 2 crore to Vakamullah Chandershekhar during that period. Pratibha and Virbhadra should clarify as how their income increased by Rs 2.86 crores despite repaying the loan, he said.
He said the party's legal cell has even filed a complaint in this regard with the District Electoral Officer but the latter refused to cancel her candidature claiming that the matter was not within his purview.
