Mulayam's PM dream is like Mungeri Lal: Kalyan Singh

AGRA: BJP vice president and three-time chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Kalyan Singh said Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's dreams of becoming prime minister were like the fanciful dreams of TV serial character Mungeri Lal.

Referring to the serial, 'Mungeri Lal Ke Haseen Sapne', Kalyan Singh, addressing a rally at Firozabad, said he could not restrain his amusement, when the SP chief made remarks like the recent controversial ones of rape. He said such remarks would suddenly jolt into wakefulness even those somnolent people who might otherwise have voted for the SP.

Kalyan Singh was referring to the controversial remarks that Mulayam made at Moradabad, where he claimed that boys were wont to make mistakes, and could not be hanged for rape.

Targeting the Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party, Kalyan Singh claimed that political parties this time seemed to have only one agenda - how to halt Narendra Modi from assuming charge as prime minister. He said this only showed the general awareness that the BJP would indeed win the elections.

Meanwhile, hundreds of angry members of the Mahila Jagriti Manch jammed NH 2 to protest the remarks made by the Samajwadi Party chief about rape.

Vandana Kumari, who was part of the women's group that was protesting on NH 2, said of the SP and its chief, "What can one expect from a party headed by a man like that?"
