The BJP has offered this "once-in-a-lifetime telephone call opportunity" to its workers as part of foundation day celebrations.
The BJP unit in the state has sent cell phone numbers of all workers entrusted with the task of campaigning in the 10,056 booths in Uttarakhand's five Lok Sabha constituencies to its headquarters.
The party has refrained from using recorded phone calls in its campaign, and this opportunity to speak with Modi has left workers enthused. "I am working at the booth level. My job is to campaign in each and every house in the area. It will be a matter of great pride to have a telephonic interaction with Modiji," said Saurabh Thapliyal, a BJP worker in Dehradun.
A video conference between Modi and grassroots workers is also planned, in all the parliamentary constituencies. Senior BJP leaders are gearing up for the event, and video conferencing equipment will be fitted in five venues in the state, connected with the Delhi head office via satellite. It will be the first time that such a conference is happening with workers, and the party has readied spaces with large seating capacity for it.
Tirath Singh Rawat, a BJP leader, said special "mehndi" campaigns are also planned, to focus on women voters.
From the end of April, the party will bring in star campaigners including party president Rajnath Singh, and senior leaders Smiriti Irani and Arun Jaitely, to campaign in Uttarakhand. The state will see polling on May 7.
