FIR against Ramdev in Uttarakhand

DEHRADUN: Yoga guru Ramdev's alleged derogatory remark against dalits has landed him in fresh trouble in Uttarakhand.

Congress state secretary TC Bharti has asked police to register an FIR under the SC/ST Act against Ramdev at Raipur station. This is the second FIR against him in Dehradun in connection with his controversial statement.

"Congress has always been supportive of dalits and after the elections, we will make sure that Ramdev gets punished for his anti-dalit remarks. He has no right to make such statements and incite hatred in the society" Bharti said.

"Ramdev has said sorry, but after hurting the sentiments of many, it's no good" he added.

Raipur SHO Mukesh Tyagi said, "The Congress leader has made us register FIR against Ramdev and the case is going to be transferred to Lucknow, where Ramdev made the controversial statement in full public view."

The yoga guru had reportedly said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visits dalit homes for picnic and honeymoon. The statement has drawn criticism from several quarters and cases against him under the Prevention of Atrocities Act have also been registered in Ahmedabad, Gorakhpur, Patna and Agra.
