Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University authorities suspended the student after receiving a complaint from a girl, an electrical engineering student, in this regard. The varsity authorities also constituted a committee on Thursday to probe the matter.
In her complaint to department head Sanjey Singh, the girl has alleged that the boy had sent her a vulgar message via Facebook.
However, the boy denied posting the message, claiming that he used to open his FB account on his friends' mobiles. He said he might have forgotten to log off from his account on his friend's mobile and then it was misused.
Talking to TOI, chief women proctor and chairperson of the inquiry committee, Asha Chaubey said, "During inquiry, it was found that the message had apparently been sent by the boy by mistake or his friend or due to some technical fault which we are unable to find out. Keeping this in mind, the committee members decided to suspend the boy from the university till further orders are issued by higher officials."
Chaubey said although the girl has now accepted the apology submitted by the boy, he was suspended as exempting him from punishment would have sent a negative message among the student community.
