"We have taken note of the Supreme Court notice very seriously. Adequate measures will be taken to improve the safety standards," Kharge told reporters after commissioning the newly-laid railway line between Kottur and Harihar.
The Supreme Court had recently served notice on the railways on a public interest petition seeking direction that sleeper coaches being manufactured conform to international safety standards.
Kharge, on Monday, commissioned newly-laid railway line between Kottur and Harihar, and flagged-off Harihar-Kottur passenger train at Kottur railway station.
The commissioning of this project has become a reality after 19 years for the people of Kottur.
The project has been implemented at a cost of Rs 425 crore with railways and Karnataka government sharing the project cost.
