BHOPAL: A top ranking officer of Food Corporation of India (FCI) was arrested by CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from the representative of a Delhi based transporter at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.
FCI's general manager Asish Agrawal was caught red-handed while accepting money at 8.30 am at his residence in Rivera Township, said CBI officers.
He is an officer of Indian Telecommunications Service (ITS) on deputation from BSNL to FCI since 2010.
Its alleged that he was demanding money from Handling and Transport Contractor (HTC) employed by the FCI for loading, unloading, staking, restacking, weighment of food-grains in rakes for clearing their dues.
A parallel raid was conducted at his office premises. Searches were on till this report was being filed.
