NEW DELHI: With the Congress on Saturday coming out with its first list of 194 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, the party sought to compare it with its main rival's list of candidates while boasting that it gave more tickets to women contestants than the BJP.
Congress, on the occasion of the International Women's Day, tweeted, "In its first list, the Congress announced 28 women candidates. In its first two lists BJP has announced just 1 woman candidate"
Though the party happily ignored the BJP's third list comprising names of two women candidates, it still has a point in terms of higher number. The BJP announced its third list comprising names of 52 candidates, including two women, on Saturday.
The Congress list of 194 candidates has names of 28 women candidates while BJP's three lists comprising 107 names have only three women candidates. The BJP had announced its first list, comprising 54 names, on February 27 and second list having one name on March 5.
