BJP objects to Venod Sharma joining Haryana Janhit Congress

NEW DELHI: Plans of Venod Sharma, a senior Congress leader from Haryana, to start a fresh political innings by joining Haryana Janhit Congress have suffered a setback following BJP's objections.

Sources said BJP has told Haryana Janhit Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi not to induct Sharma. A well-known figure in Congress who served as minister at both the Centre and in Haryana government, Sharma is the father of Manu Sharma, who was convicted in the Jessica Lal murder case.

Sources said senior BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj conveyed the party's reservations about being part of a tie-up which also features Sharma.

A well-known entrepreneur, Sharma has been an influential figure in Haryana politics.
