Bharti rapped for speaking to media

NEW DELHI: Former law minister Somnath Bharti was reportedly pulled up by senior AAP members on Wednesday for interacting with the media even though he is not one of the authorized spokespersons.

Sources said Bharti has been asked repeatedly to exercise restraint while speaking as he has caused major embarrassment to the party in the past by making inappropriate comments in public, including one against senior Congress leaders for which party chief Arvind Kejriwal had to apologize.

"He is good-hearted but completely incapable of handling the media," a source said. In a recent incident, Bharti was approached by a TV channel to comment on a story against him. "He said a few things because he was asked. On issues relating to his work and his constituency, Bharti has full freedom to speak," a source said.
