Tollbooth vandalism case: Nitesh Rane, 8 others released on bail

MAPUSA: All the nine persons including Maharashtra minister Narayan Rane's son Nitesh Rane who were arrested allegedly involved in ransacking the tollbooth at Dhargalim were granted conditional bail by the local court on Wednesday even as Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar disclosed that Maharashtra's Congress politician had called him to get his son released.

While Nitesh Rane and three others including Prashant Malkar, Rakesh Parab and Harishchandra Sawant were granted bail within hours of their arrests on late Tuesday night, five other were granted bail by the Mapusa court on Wednesday.


The court, in the conditions ordered that the accused should report to the Pernem police station for three days between 10 am and 1 pm and not to leave the country without permission of the court.


Sources informed that Nitesh along with his MP brother Nilesh Rane reported to police on Wednesday.


Parrikar, at a press conference, said that Narayan Rane had called him but Nitesh had already been arrested by then.
