NEW DELHI: In a possible rejig ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Union minister for environment and forests Jayanthi Natarajan resigned from the Union Cabinet on Saturday.
President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted her resignation.
Natarajan will head back to party and play a bigger role for Congress ahead of the elections, according to sources.
Oil minister Veerappa Moily has taken additional charge of the environment ministry.
According to TV reports, more ministers are expected to quit the government for party work.
