PM and rupee have lost voice, Modi says



RAJKOT: Continuing his attacks on Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Saturday compared him with the Indian rupee and said that both have lost their voice.

Modi was speaking at a function in Morbi town that was organized to felicitate him for the creation of Morbi as a separate district. The district has been carved out of Rajkot.


Modi said, "There was a time when the Indian rupee was making a lot of noise but today, it has lost its voice. In the same way, we are unable to hear the voice of the Prime Minister."


Attacking the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre, Modi said, "Today our currency is on its deathbed and urgently needs the attention of a doctor."


He further charged, "At present both the rupee and UPA government, have lost their value. Time has come to stop our country from destruction. The central government is misguiding the country. People need to know why our country is heading towards destruction."


Owners of ceramic industrial units facilitated Modi by weighed him with 92 kg of silver that was presented to him. Modi announced that the silver will be used for building the proposed statue of Sardar Patel along Sardar Sarovar Dam at Kevadia.
