Three employees of Asaram, including Shilpi (the warden of the hostel at Chhindwara's Gurukul), Keshav (gurukul attendant) and Shiva (sewadar of bapu, who was with him at Manai ashram on the day of incident), were served the summons asking them to appear before the investigating officer at Jodhpur on August 29, a day before the deadline for Asaram ends on Friday.
"We had summoned them to appear before the investigating officer on August 29 August and waited for them throughout the day, but none of them appeared on Thursday despite assurances," said a police official. He went on to say that they were not so important at the moment. Instead, the police would wait for Asaram, whose deadline to appear before the cops ends on August 30. "After this, we will decide the further course of action," the police said.
On the other hand, the police has decided not to allow Asaram any relief beyond August 30. "If he does not turn up till then, we will arrange for his arrest and bring him here," said the official referring to his application for extension in the date of appearance.
The officer said special teams will be formed to keep a tab on the whereabouts of Asaram. "If he doesn't appear for questioning, we will send a team for questioning," the officer said.
Meanwhile, while hearing the criminal miscellaneous petition field by an advocate of Jodhpur S D Goswami, the court has asked him to provide evidences in the court leading to establishment of the ground of the petition. Goswami had filed the petition on Saturday against Asaram and his spokesperson Neelam Dubey in Rajasthan High court under Section 482 of CrPC for hurting the sentiments of the people through their statements about the girls and religious figures of yesteryears.
Goswami said the court has asked to produce the recording and transcript of the programme, in which these comments were passed by Asaram and his spokesperson before proceeding on the petition.
