Addressing a meeting of RJD MLAs as part of the pre-merger exercise of Janata Parivar parties, the CM also asked the legislators to be extra alert in their respective constituencies to counter the nefarious bid of communal forces as they could go to any extent before the assembly elections to get political mileage. "Beware of their misinformation campaign," Nitish told the MLAs.
During the 45-minute meeting, the CM discussed various modalities of the merger, besides issues related to good governance, development issues in backward regions and state assembly elections. The RJD has 24 MLAs and is already supporting the JD (U) government. As many as 21 RJD MLAs were present at the meeting.
"We discussed political implications of the merger. Now, we have to work together and in this context I talked to RJD MLAs in detail about maintenance of sushasan, law and order and also discussed how to expedite development works," the CM said after the meeting.
Emerging out of the meeting, RJD legislature party leader in the assembly Abdul Bari Siddiqui said the RJD MLAs have been given the responsibility to ensure continuance of 'sushasan' in the state after merger. "The CM also asked the MLAs to identify the areas where developmental activities have been slow. Such areas will be taken up on priority by the government," he said. "This meeting was called at my request," Siddiqui said,
"This meeting indicates that the (JD(U)-RJD) merger is imminent and the process has gained momentum in Bihar. The merger will be completed very soon," the RJDLP leader said.
