Manohar Parrikar dares Karnataka’s Congress govt to ban Pramod Muthalik

CALANGUTE: Defence minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday demanded that the Congress government in Karnataka ban Sriram Sene chief Pramod Mutalik for trying to incite communal hatred in Goa.

"When I was chief minister, I had banned Mutalik from entering Goa, and the ban has now been extended. Still some people are blaming the BJP for what Mutalik is saying in Karnataka. There is a Congress government in Karnataka. If they find Mutalik unfit to enter Goa, then why is the Congress not imposing a ban on Mutalik in Karnataka? He is sitting in Karnataka and making these comments," Parrikar said during the inaugural function of the Arpora bridge in Goa.

He said the BJP is blamed for attacks on churches, rapes of nuns and other communal incidents against the minority community despite it not being involved.

"In the case of the nun's rape in West Bengal, the culprits were found to be Muslims from Bangladesh. In UP where some churches were attacked, Mulayam Singh Yadav's party is in power, not the BJP. I am committed towards the welfare of all communities and I know that Narendra Modi is also on the same page as me. The Catholic community here in Goa can rest assured that their interests will be fully protected," he said, referring to the calls for ghar wapsi made by some right-wing groups.
