Land bill against farming community:Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra Singh

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Wednesday criticized the Land Reforms Bill of the Union government terming it as against the farming community. He said that the government, in order to facilitate big industrialists, was playing with the interests of farmers.

While addressing a public meeting on the campus of local deity Khantu Devta in farthest corner of Rohru at Ranole, Virbhadra Singh said that Khantu dev temple would be maintained as per the ancient architecture. "We have to preserve our "Dev Sanskriti" as it was the identity of our existence and our culture," he added.

Speaking about channelization of Pabbar river, he said that it was being channelized from Tikri to Hatkoti with an outlay of around Rs 200 crore. Besides, the government had started channelization of Swan river in Una along with its 73 tributaries.

He said that a double lane bridge would be constructed at Samoli to connect Rohru by-pass in near future which would be further extended till Mendhali, where double lane bridge already stand constructed. He said that vegetable market at Mendhali would be completed this year.
