Muthukumarasamy (57) committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train at Thatchanallur on February 20 as he was allegedly under pressure from the former agriculture minister and his associates over the appointments of seven drivers in Tirunelveli.
Krishnamoorthy and chief engineer of the agriculture department M Senthil were arrested on April 4 and have been lodged in the Palayamkottai central prison.
Senior counsel V Kathirvel appeared in court for the accused and argued that Krishnamoorthy had no direct connection with the suicide. He sought bail for the former minister on medical grounds.
However, public prosecutor N Sivalingamuthu opposed it. He said the former minister was the prime accused in the case and witnesses were ready to give evidence in the case. If the accused was released in bail, he would influence the witnesses, the public prosecutor argued.
After hearing both sides, judge M Nazir Ahamed dismissed the bail petition.
It may be recalled that the court had earlier dismissed the bail plea of Senthil.
