NEW DELHI: As the union government approved a couple of ordinances on Monday, Meera Sanyal, who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from South Mumbai on an AAP ticket, brought to attention that the BJP functionary Sushma Swaraj had criticised the ordinance route to legislation on the National Food Security Bill a year ago on Twitter.
"The ordinance route for such an important legislation is not desirable," reads Swaraj's tweet from June 2, 2013, in reference to the debate around the Food Security Bill.
In a subsequent tweet on Monday, Sanyal wrote: "Agreed Kudos to @SushmaSwaraj for taking a principled stand: "The ordinance route for such an important legislation is not desirable."
The retweet drew a mixed response.
