Dhumal attacks Virbhadra for poor finances


SHIMLA: Accusing Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh of creating obstacles in the relief provided by union government, Leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal on Monday demanded immediate reduction in bus fare following slash in diesel prices. Dhumal said that in last two months diesel price has been reduced by Rs 6 per liter while petrol price by around Rs 10 by union government. He said that instead of providing relied to public, state government has increased the VAT.


Attacking Virbhadra Singh for political vendetta, Dhumal said that last 22 month's tenure of Congress government has focused only on harassing BJP workers, supporters and leaders. "Developmental works have been stalled, roads have turned into potholes while government is busy in registering case against BJP sympathizers," he added.


He also alleged that developmental projects started during previous BJP regime have either been closed or stalled. He once again blamed Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for financial mess in the state. "No efforts are being made to increase the sources of income while government exchequer is being burdened with the appointment of chairman and vice-chairman of boards or corporations," he added.


He said that not stopping here, government is further overspending on retired officials by giving them extensions. He said that Himachal Pradesh has been brought on the verge of economic bankruptcy. "In last seven months Chowkidars of different departments have not been paid while the salaries of daily wagers too have been stopped," he claimed. Dhumal said that state government should stop unwanted expenditures. He said that vindictive campaign against political opponents too should be stopped by the government.
