Two-day winter session of Gujarat assembly in November

AHMEDABAD: The state government has called a two-day winter session of the state assembly on November 10 and 11, while the opposition Congress has demanded a longer session.

The two-day winter session will be a mere formality. However, a new bill for converting the Panchayat Act Amendment Ordinance into an Act, along with a bill for Gujarat Education Tribunal Ordinance, will be tabled in the House.

New governor O P Kohli will address the House for the first time.

Leader of opposition, Shankersinh Vaghela, said that though he had demanded at least a five-day long session through a letter to the speaker, now only a two-day session had been called just to fulfil the constitutional obligation.

"There is so much to discuss in the assembly that even five days are not enough, but the government has called a two-day session which clearly shows that the government has no intention to discuss people's issues,'' said Vaghela.
